Description

Portable Analog Wattmeter

The Portable Analog Wattmeter is an electrical measuring instrument used to measure electrical power in a circuit. Manufactured by Elmo Agencies, a trusted scientific manufacturer in Ambala, it provides an analog pointer indication of power through a calibrated scale, making it suitable for laboratory experiments, electrical testing, and educational demonstrations.

A wattmeter measures the electrical power consumed or delivered by a circuit. A traditional analog wattmeter generally uses a combination of current and voltage measuring elements to determine power. The interaction of these elements produces movement of the instrument’s pointer, which indicates the power value on the calibrated scale.

Rated Accuracy: ± 1.0% of full scale value as per ISS 1248/84 between 10% to 100% of the scale for Single phase UPF Wattmeters
: ± 1.5% of full-scale value as per ISS 1248/84 for Three Phase Wattmeters
: ± 1.5% of full-scale value as per ISS 1248/84 for 0.2 P.F. (LPF) Single Phase Wattmeter
: ± 3° (Electrical) as per ISS 1248 for Power Factor Meters

Note: All Wattmeters are calibrated at cos f = 1 and Varmeters at sin f = 1
All low power factor wattmeters are calibrated at cos f = 0.2 lag
Other voltage and current ranges can be supplied on request, subject to technical feasibility

Working Principle

An analog wattmeter operates using two measurement circuits:

  • Current coil: Connected in series with the load to respond to the current flowing through the circuit.
  • Voltage coil: Connected across the load to respond to the voltage.

The interaction between the magnetic fields produced by these coils generates a deflecting torque. The resulting pointer movement provides an indication related to the real electrical power being measured.

Key Features

  • Analog pointer-based power measurement
  • Designed for electrical power measurement
  • Portable construction for convenient use
  • Calibrated scale for direct visual readings
  • Suitable for laboratory and educational applications
