The FET Characteristics Apparatus is a specialized educational instrument designed to study the electrical characteristics and operating behavior of a Field Effect Transistor (FET). Manufactured and supplied by Elmo Agencies, a trusted scientific instrument manufacturer in Ambala, this apparatus is widely used in engineering colleges, technical institutes, and electronics laboratories for semiconductor and electronic device experiments.
A Field Effect Transistor (FET) is a voltage-controlled semiconductor device commonly used for amplification and switching applications. The FET Characteristics Apparatus enables students to analyze important parameters such as drain current, gate voltage, pinch-off voltage, and transfer characteristics. Through practical experimentation, learners gain a clear understanding of FET operation and its role in modern electronic circuits.
The apparatus is equipped with inbuilt variable DC regulated power supplies providing output voltages of 0-5V DC and 0-15V DC. It features on-board analog moving coil meters for accurate measurement of voltage and current. The voltmeter offers dual ranges of 0-5V DC and 0-15V DC, while the ammeter provides a range of 0-15mA. A BFW10 FET is incorporated into the setup for conducting characteristic studies and practical observations.
For ease of experimentation, the symbol diagram is printed directly on the front panel, and all important test points are brought out for convenient access. The apparatus operates on a 230V AC, 50Hz power supply and is housed in a durable cabinet weighing approximately 2.0 kg. Manufactured using quality components by Elmo Labs and offered by Elmo Agencies, a leading manufacturer in Ambala, the FET Characteristics Apparatus is designed for accuracy, durability, and long-term laboratory use, making it an essential tool for electronics education and semiconductor studies.
